DEEPLY ROOTED, ECOLOGICALLY MINDED LIVING IN THE COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE SCENIC AREA.
A recently retired couple with deep roots in the Columbia River Gorge fell in love with this little corner of Mosier. We were commissioned to design a highly efficient home that was deeply embedded in the landscape, while delicate on the environment. The result is this 1300 square foot home, dubbed ‘the Memaloose Cabin’. Super-insulated walls and roof allow this home to go without mechanical cooling all summer long, and with only minimal heating in the winter.
This house had to be resilient. The selected materials work with everything that life throws at it with minimal maintenance.
